The Irish National Lottery pays out more than 50% of its funds in prize money. The balance is used to fund projects in Ireland in the areas of health, sport, recreation, arts, culture, and national heritage. It began gaming operations in 1987. Since then, it has expanded its repertoire of games to include Lotto drawings, television bingo, televised game shows, and participation in the transnational EuroMillions lottery. Draws are held every Wednesday and Saturday.
The Irish Lottery's largest ever jackpot of €18,963,441 was won by a syndicate of sixteen work colleagues at the Dan Morrissey (Ireland) Ltd quarry and concrete plant on June 2008, while the second-largest jackpot of €16,185,749 was won on July 2007 by a family from Cork.
Draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday night and jackpots are won by matching the first 6 numbers drawn from 1 to 42, plus a 'bonus' number. To enter the next Irish Lottery draw, visit http://www.osalottos.com.
