After going uncollected for almost eight months, the 146.9-Million-Euro jackpot prize in Italy's Superenalotto was finally won on Saturday, August 22. The winning numbers were 10-11-27-45-79-88, and the odds of getting the six-number combination right were one in 622 million.
Saturday's Superenalotto prize is now the highest lottery jackpot ever won in Europe. The previous record was held by a 25-year-old Spanish woman who won 126 million euros in May.
The lucky ticket was bought in Bagnone, a town of just 1,945 residents in Tuscany. Italian state news agency Ansa reported that the winner, whose name was not disclosed, had spent just two euros on the ticket.
The identity of lottery winners seldom becomes public in Italy, where the biggest prize won before Saturday's draw was 100.7 million euros in October 2008.
